Georgia College lands two players on ABCA All-American teams
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Georgia College baseball team capped off a tremendous 2018 season by having two players voted to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Rawlings Division II All-American teams.
Senior starting pitcher Charlie Hecht was named a second-team All-American, and senior outfielder Logan Mattix was named a third-team All-American.
Hecht was also named the first consensus region pitcher of the year in program history. He went 11-1 on the mound in his last season with the Bobcats, finishing with a 3.03 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 104 innings pitched.
Mattix takes home this third-team All-American selection after already being named the player of the year in the Peach Belt Conference. He hit an even .400 this season with nine home runs and 67 runs batted in.
These two selections now give Georgia College 22 ABCA All-American players in school history. Hecht and Mattix become the third and fourth players to be selected since Jason Eller took over as head coach before the 2017 season.
Georgia College finsihed the 2018 season with a 44-12 record, and compiled the most wins in Peach Belt play (26) by any team since 1998.
