Mercer dominates Hiwassee for fifth win
MACON, Ga. -- Even without their leading scorer Ria'n Holland, the Mercer Bears had no problem blowing out Hiwassee College 90-53 on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Arena.
Holland did not play in a game because of an ankle injury he suffered in Mercer's last game against Colorado. Ethan Stair stepped up to fill Holland's spot in the starting lineup and did not disappoint scoring a team-high 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field.
Mercer led by 19 heading into the half and then coasted in the second half, outscoring the Tigers by 18 with mostly reserves on the floor. Every active player on Mercer's bench scored a point in the contest. Cory Kilby added 14 points while Desmond Ringers added 11 points.
The Bears shot well from the field shooting 58 percent for the game and 48 percent from three.
Mercer (5-2) have a big game coming up on Wednesday at Tennessee in Knoxville. The Volunteers recently upset No. 16 Purdue last week.
