Mercer stumbles at home against Notre Dame

A daunting losing streak reached four games for Stephanie DeFeo and the Mercer Softball Team Wednesday evening.

The Bears fell to Notre Dame 7-2 at Sykes Field sending the Bears four games under .500. Trailing 4-1 in the third inning, Maxine Rodriguez's infield singles cut the Fighting Irish lead to two runs but Notre Dame pulled away with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Rachel Nasland was dominant on the mound for the Irish throwing a complete game surrendering two runs on three hits while dialing up six strikeouts.

Mercer (12-16) will host Belmont Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Sykes Field.
