MACON, GA -- Smiles and cheers on a beautiful Homecoming Weekend were quickly erased Saturday afternoon at Five Star Stadium as #15 Samford controlled Mercer from start to finish 20-3 on Senior Day.

Devlin Hodges led the Bulldogs with 367 passing yards and two touchdowns both coming from Chris Shelling on the receiving end.

Mike Kolakowski's Mercer defense held Samford well below their season points per game average while forcing four turnovers. However, the Bears' offense was stagnant and inconsistent all afternoon collecting just 191 total yards.

Kaelan Riley finished the day 18-38 for 158 yards with an interception and a lost fumble. Mercer committed eight penalties for 52 yards while surrendering two safeties.

Mercer (4-5, 3-4) travels to Western Carolina next Saturday in the SoCon finale.
