MACON, GA -- Georgia College Men's Basketball Coach Mark Gainous had seven new faces on campus last year.

The coach matched that number heading into the 2017-18 season. The Bobcats returned to campus this week beginning summer workouts and helping out with the program's high school team camp.

Despite a ton of fresh faces, GC returns plenty of talent from a year ago ready to take a big step forward in the leadership department.

"We return a good base of the starters that should mentor the young guys," Assistant Coach Ryan Aquino. "We feel good about them especially a couple of guys that have played significant minutes."

One of those returners is former Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Isaac Thomas who paced the Bobcats with 10.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season. With their top five scorers returning from a season ago, the coaching staff is excited about their core and are expecting big things out of a few newcomers.

"The new guys, we got three or four that we think could definitely step in right away day one and be significant impacts," Aquino said.

The Bobcats finished 2016-17 15-13 with a 9-10 mark in conference play.
