Game of the Week: Northeast's Harden prepares for showdown with Twiggs County
MACON, GA -- Northeast Head Football Coach Ashley Harden has developed the "Mr. Fix It" reputation.
Harden turned Twiggs County into a playoff contender during his two seasons in Jeffersonville. After a run to the second-round of the state playoffs last season, Harden opted to leave Twiggs County for Northeast.
His reputation followed him to Macon as Harden has the Raiders out of the gate hot at 2-0. Northeast has a chance to open the season with three straight wins with a victory Friday night over a familiar opponent; Twiggs County.
"I told the kids yesterday at practice this week is not about me," Harden said. "I'm here at Northeast. I'm with Northeast, and it's another game we're preparing for the same way."
It may be only one of ten games on the schedule for Northeast, but Harden admitted it's hard to ignore bond he had with his Friday night opponent.
"It may be a little emotional because like I told you before, those kids over there, we've been together for two and a half years. I love those kids," Harden said. "We still keep in contact, but just like I tell them when that whistle blows in between that line it's all business."
Kickoff between Northease (2-0) and Twiggs County (0-2) is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Thompson Stadium. WGXA's Rick Devens will have full highlights on First and 10 at 10:40 p.m. on FOX24.
