After four years as the defensive coordinator of the Houston County Bears, Ryan Crawford is getting his chance to lead the silver and black.

HOCO promoted Crawford to head coach and athletic director early Tuesday morning.

The Griffin alum helped the Bears to a 45-9 record over the last four seasons including a region championship in 2015. The Bears high-powered offense overshadowed their defensive efficiency under Crawford.

HOCO held opponents under 21 points 23 times in the last four years.

This past season, the Bears finished 7-3 but failed to make the GHSA AAAAAA playoffs.

Crawford will make his head coaching debut in the Corky Kell Classic when HOCO faces off against Jones County Aug. 17 at Mercer University's Five Star Stadium.
