New Bleckley County Head Football Coach Von Lassiter knows how to build a staff.

He's proven it at Houston County, and he's doing it again in Cochran. Tuesday night, the school board approved the hire of former West Laurens Head Coach Stacy Nobles as the team's strength and conditioning coach and assistant athletic director.

How did Lassiter pull that off?

"My pitch to him was we've got something special here and we love working together," Lassiter said. "We've been friends a long time. We know what type of team we make when we work together. Let's do it."

The combination worked well in the past as Lassiter served as Nobles' defensive coordinator at West Laurens before heading to Houston County. The new Royals are happy to be reunited.

"We've been fortunate enough to work together here and I worked for him at West Laurens," Lassiter said. "It's just something you want to be a part of and I'm glad he did because he's a quality person and a great coach."

Both Lassiter and Nobles built successful programs at Houston County and West Laurens making multiple playoff appearances in their six and four-year stints.

Bleckley County finished 2-8 in 2016 and missed the postseason.
