Southwest star Solomon signs with Mars Hill
A historic football season for Joseph Dupree's Southwest Patriots wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the services of Ja'Quavius Solomon.
The standout wide receiver led the Patriots to their first playoff berth in school history in 2016.
A month after National Signing Day, Solomon received his time to shine signing with Division II Mars Hill University.
Solomon signed his national letter of intent in front of his family, teammates, coaches and friends Wednesday afternoon at a ceremony at Southwest High School.
"I saw all of the players sign and it kind of hurt my heart," said Solomon. "Everybody in my corner was like keep working you got the talent to make it. I kept working, I never stopped working out and God just blessed me with an opportunity."
Southwest finished 2016 at 6-5 overall with a playoff loss to Brooks County. Solomon will join a Mars Hill program that is prime for a big year after finishing 5-6 a season ago.
