WARNER ROBINS, GA -- Middle Georgia basketball fans won't be waiting until December for a look at the area's top hoops talent.

Through Thursday, Warner Robins and Northside continue the Summer Slam Team Camp as some of the top squads in the area compete for bragging rights. The days of traveling around the state to various college camps seem to be dwindling. The Summer Slam Team Camp provides teams the opportunity to stay closer to home and compete at a high level.

"It's very very convenient and nice as well," said Warner Robins Head Coach Jamaal Garman. "You don't have to worry about all of those small things that come with traveling. You can be right here in your own gym and you can play some good teams that come in here and play too."

Not only does the camp provide convenience and competition, it gives teams a chance to gauge themselves during the summer months.

"It's going to help us during the season because we're working on the smaller things right now," Garman said. "I won't tell you what those small things are right now but we're working on them to be better at those things."

The camp runs through Thursday evening at Warner Robins High School, Warner Robins Middle School, and Northside High School. Thursday at 3 p.m. at Warner Robins High School the Demons face Westside in a game featuring two of the state's top recruits in Nelson Phillips and Khavon Moore.
