Mount de Sales honors five college signees

MACON, GA -- Five athletes were honored Tuesday afternoon at the Zuver Center at Mount de Sales Academy including four members of the baseball team for making their college choices.

Standout linebacker Will Pounds signed with Morehouse College. Pounds led the Cavaliers with 94 tackles in 2016 earning his second letter under Keith Hatcher. The two-year starter was a first-team-all-region selection. Pounds plans to major in accounting at Morehouse.

As for Bubba Pool's Cavalier Baseball Team, four stars were honored Tuesday afternoon.

Back to back all-region selection Adam Leverett signed with Gordon State College. A three-year starter, the versatile Leverett has a .979 fielding percentage while striking out 224 batters on the mound. He plans to pitch at Gordon where he will major in engineering.

Four-year starter Jack Lipson signed on with Chattahoochee Valley Community College. Lipson has been a staple for the Cavaliers behind the plate and on the mound. He's a back-to-back region selection. Lipson plans to major in business.

Starting shortstop Brady Pool is headed to Emmanuel College. A three-year letter winner, Pool has either scored or assisted on 51 runs for the Cavaliers this season. He plans to major in Sports Management.

Zack Tong signed with the University of Montevallo. In 2017, Tong is hitting .387 with two home runs and 39 RBIs. Tong will major in Physics at Montevallo.

The Cavaliers face Aquinas in Augusta Wednesday evening in the Region 7-A semifinals.
