Windsor Academy claims GISA AA state title
MACON, Ga. -- They were the favorites all season long, and on Saturday afternoon the Windsor Academy Knights showed why with their 52-31 win over Furtah Prep to claim their second GISA AA state championship in school history.
The Knights were led by another fantastic performance from Marquise Jackson who finished with 25 points, leading all scorers. Jai'kez Mann had a great day as well, scoring 22 points in the win.
"It's a great feeling, absolute dream come true," said head coach Michael Johnson. "These guys have just extremely dedicated themselves all season long to the sport and it was a deserving win."
Furtah made it a game in the second half, cutting the Windsor lead to just three before the Knights began to pull away and cruise to the trophy.
"This season surprised me myself," said Marquise Jackson. "I mean we had a lot of new guys and I didn't know how well we would play together but everyone bought in and we became the best team in the state."
Windsor finishes the season with a record of 29-1 and outscored opponents by an average score of 74-47.
"I mean we just went out with a state championship," said Landry Rustin. "Best regular season record ever. I mean I couldn't ask for better people around me."
