Last year season was defined by hope. The 2016-17 campaign for the Macon Mayhem will be defined by a championship.

"We go into every game expecting to win," Kerr said. "I don't think guys get too uptight if we are down by a goal or not."

The expectation has turned into reality for the Blue Sweaters who have rattled off six-straight wins taking control of sole possession of first place in the SPHL. The winning streaks have been full of comebacks and clutch performances, all embodied by a dangerous team confidence.

"I think it showed the other night against Mississippi," said Kerr. "We were down 3-2 and we scored four goals in 5:30 minutes. I think the confidence level is very high."

With 65 points on the year, the Mayhem have a four-point lead over Huntsville for the league's top spot. During the six-game winning streak, the Mayhem have been clicking offensively totaling 23 goals.

The Blue Sweaters head to in-state rival Columbus Saturday night in a potential playoff matchup.
