Dominant second period helps Mayhem clinch series
COLUMBUS, GA -- Four second period goals provided enough breathing room as the Macon Mayhem took Game 3 and the opening round series with a 6-3 win over Columbus Thursday night at the Columbus Civic Center.
With a 1-1 tie heading into the second, Jake Trask scored two of the Mayhem's four goals in the period as the Mayhem grabbed a 5-1 lead heading to the final period.
After two Cottonmouths' goals early in the third, Matt Johnson added an insurance goal for the Blue Sweaters.
This is the Mayhem's first series victory in team history. Macon will take on Pensacola in the SPHL's semifinals starting next week.
