Mayhem use fast start to top River Kings

MACON, Ga. -- The Macon Mayhem continued their hot streak by beating the Mississippi River Kings 4-0 at the Centreplex on Friday night.

Two first period goals helped the Mayhem gain an early lead which they never surrendered. Stephen Pierog and Matt Summers netted the two goals for the blue sweaters.

Daniel Gentzler scored in the second period to extend the lead to 3-0. Mark Rivera scored a power play goal in the third to make it 4-0.

The Mayhem now have 62 points on the season and remain in first place in the SPHL standings, tied with Huntsville.

The Mayhem and River Kings will wrap up their season series tomorrow night at the Centreplex starting at 7:35 PM.
