Road warrior mentality in effect for Mayhem
Mayhem Head Coach Kevin Kerr is always urging his players to take care of the little things. When the fundamentals are sound, wins will come and that means wherever and whenever.
Tuesday night the Mayhem earned a 4-3 hard-fought win at Mississippi grabbing sole possession of second place in the SPHL. The victory was the Blue Sweaters 13th away from home ice.
"They just enjoy being on the road," said Kerr. "They're a close group. They like being on the road together."
The veteran leadership of guys like Stephen Pierog and Jake Trask have helped keep things afloat for the Mayhem after a four-game losing streak at the end of January. Now the ship is sailing again in the right direction for the Mayhem and the confidence is back in the locker room when they take care of business away from home.
"We just play a good road game," said Kerr. "We don't do anything fancy. We just stick to basic things and it's been successful so far."
The Mayhem have a tough road trip this weekend at Knoxville and Roanoke. Macon sits three points behind Huntsville for first place in the SPHL.
