Siemer, Gentzler lift Mayhem to Game 1 win at Peoria

PEORIA, IL -- After trailing by a goal for most of the evening, the comeback kids of the SPHL lived up to their nickname as the Macon Mayhem scored two third period goals taking Game 1 2-1 over the Peoria Rivermen Friday night at the Peoria Civic Center.

John Siemer tied things up six minutes into the period and Daniel Gentzler buried the eventual game winner with less than ten minutes remaining.

Jordan Ruby stopped 25 of Peoria's 26 shot attempts earning his fifth win of the postseason.

The Mayhem grabbed a 1-0 series lead and can claim their first President's Cup Championship with a win Sunday night. The puck drops for Game 2 at 6:00 p.m. from the Centreplex.
