Bacon fall at home to the Red Wolves 5-4
MACON, Ga. -- After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning, the Macon Bacon were unable to hold that lead against the Florence Red Wolves at Luther Williams Field Saturday night.
Josh Vincent took the ball to start his first game of the season for the Bacon. The junior from Chowan University went through three scoreless innings before allowing two earned runs in the fourth.
The Bacon struck first in this game, scoring three runs in the third inning courtesy of an RBI double from Georgia College's Cal Gentry and a two-run single from Mercer's Brandon Michie.
The Red Wolves would answer back in the top of the fourth inning. A two-run double from McLendon Sears made it a 3-2 game. Florence would add three more runs in the fifth inning to give them five runs, which would be enough to top the Bacon.
Macon will have two off days before returning to action at home on Tuesday at home against the Savannah Bananas. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m..
