Bird Lady prepares for trip to Super Bowl 51
For Falcons fans, 19 years was a long wait between Super Bowl appearances. Those loyal to the black and red have only seen their beloved team make the Super Bowl once in their 51 year history. A wait like that may have lost them some fans, but those who stuck with the team through thick and thin can now celebrate knowing they are back in the big game once more.
One of those excited fans is Carolyn Freeman, also known as "The Bird Lady." Freeman has been to almost every Falcons game since 1998, which was also the last time the Falcons went to the Super Bowl. The last time Carolyn misses a game was 2001 and since then she has traveled with the team to every game since and even celebrated with the team in the locker room after Sunday's win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship.
Going to regular season games is different then going to the Super Bowl with the cheapest ticket starting at around $4,000. However, "The Bird Lady" says she is planning on going to Houston.
"Of course I'm going," said Freeman. "They can't go without me!"
Freeman also heads up an organization called "Bird Lady Cares," in which she donates things like shoes to children in need.
