Kevin Harvick wins QuikTrip 500
HAMPTON, Ga. -- A rainy day south of Atlanta wouldn't stop Kevin Harvick from celebrating a win. Harvick won the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday.
The race was nearly postponed due to weather rain, but the grounds crew at the speedway was able to dry off the track and get the race started at 3:30 PM.
Harvick was able to win the first stage of the race with Brad Keselowski taking stage two. But the day belonged to Harvick who started the day in third but quickly took the lead, and at one point had a 10-second lead over the rest of the field.
This is just the second win for Harvick at Atlanta Motor Speedway, his first win coming in 2001 during his rookie season. Keselowski finished second and Clint Boyer finished third. Georgia native Chase Elliott finished 10th and his still looking for his frist career win.
NASCAR heads to Las Vegas next week for the Pennzoil 400.
