Repavement coming to Atlanta Motor Speedway this spring
Tuesday afternoon, the Atlanta Motor Speedway announced via a press release it's historic racing track will be repaved for the first time in twenty years.
The pavement will begin following the track's NASCAR racing weekend which runs March 3-5.
The asphalt at AMS is the second oldest surface out of all of NASCAR's Cup Series Circuit tracks. The track has been a favorite among drivers who love the challenge it presents despite its wear and tear.
Officials credit the racing surface's longevity due to Atlanta Motor Speedway maintenance and favorable conditions in Georgia winters.
Racing weekend at AMS begins March 3 with Sprint Cup Series qualifying races.
