Savannah tops the Bacon again
The Macon Bacon took the first game in the battle of the Golden Spork on opening night. Ever since that game, the series has belonged to Savannah. The Bananas topped the Bacon on Tuesday night 2-1. The Bacon falls to 4-6 on the season, while Savannah improves to 8-2.
It was a pitcher's duel until the top of the 5th. That's when Savannah scored its first run off of a throwing error. They added another in the top of the 7th when Garret Delano singled in the 2nd run of the game. The Bacon got on the board in the bottom of the 8th when Jackson Jones hit a RBI groundout. The Bacon stranded two in the bottom of the 9th when the game came to an end. Riley King went 3 for 4 for Macon, while Delano and Justin Dirden each collected 2 hits for Savannah. Tyler Follis got the win for the Bananas going 5 shutout innings while giving up just 3 hits.
Up next, Macon will have Wednesday off before they travel to Florence on Thursday. First pitch will be at 7 pm.
