Seahawks Defensive Coach Holds Annual Football Camp
MACON, GA -- Seattle Seahawks Defensive Line Coach Travis Jones continued his visit to the Middle Georgia area kicking off a two-day football camp at Ed DeFore Stadium in Macon.
A day after visiting the Children's Hospital Navicent Health, Jones hosted his 11th annual Football Fundamentals Camp. As Jones and his team of coaches taught kids the basics of the game, his message was more than just X's and O's.
"The purpose is to give back to young people what we've been given," Jones said. " These men and women, most of all went to school with myself at the University of Georgia and have gone off and had successful careers and different endeavors and this is just an opportunity for us to spend some time with young people and share with them some of our life experiences."
Along with giving back to the community, the Wilkinson County alum also wants youth to know what it takes to play at the college and professional level.
"Its all about discipline and hard work and be willing to understand about a process and being able to compete at a high-level as hard as you can." Jones said.
The camp concludes with a final session at Ed DeFore Stadium Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information visit theTravisjonesfootballcamp.com.
