Two bodies found in burned car in Crawford County identified
Two bodies that were found dead in a burned car in Crawford County in September have been identified.
According to Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent J.T. Ricketson, the bodies have been identified and the GBI has met with the District Attorney's Office regarding prosecuting the case as several out of town venues may be involved. The names of the victims have not yet been released by law enforcement.
According to a release from the GBI in September, a Crawford County Sheriff's Deputy found the vehicle engulfed in flames in a wooded area near Marshall Mill Road in Lizella while responding to an unrelated incident. The Crawford County Fire Department was dispatched to extinguish the fire and discovered two bodies inside.
According to the GBI, the vehicle is described as a 2015 Kia Soul and was rented from the Enterprise Rent-a-Car located in Warner Robins.
An autopsy revealed that both bodies were men, had multiple gunshot wounds and were dead prior to the fire.
District Attorney David Cooke said his office is working with the GBI and following every lead in the ongoing investigation.
