9 fallen officers, 2 canines honored at Warner Robins vigil

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Nine officers were honored at the Warner Robins Fallen Officers Candlelight Vigil at Southside Baptist Church on Monday.

It included the special lighting of memorial candles for the officers. They include:

Ofc. Timothy Smith - Eastman Police Department
Sgt. Patrick Sondron - Peach County Sheriff's Office
Dep. Daryl Smallwood - Peach County Sheriff's Office
Dep. Justin White - Newton County Sheriff's Office
Dep. Commander Patrick Carothers - U.S. Marshals Service
Ofc. Nicholas Smarr - Americus Police Department
Ofc. Jody Smith - Georgia Southwestern State Univeristy
Sgt. Gregory Meagher - Richmond County Sheriff's Office
Dep. Michael Butler - Lowndes County Sheriff's Office

People were filled with many emotions when Warner Robins Assistant Chief John Wagner made the final call.

Donna Glenn comes from a long line of law enforcement officers.

Her brother is a Byron Police Officer and fallen officers Sgt. Patrick Sondron and Dep. Daryl Smallwood were close to his heart.

She said it's important to respect and law enforcement office for their sacrifice.

"It's heartbreaking for them to go home and to feel like world is against them so they need to see who stands up for them," Glenn said.

Two fallen canine officers from the Houston County Sheriff's Office and Cherokee County School District Police, Kyro and Inca, were also honored.

The Warner Robins Police Department will host various events in honor of Police Week in support of law enforcement.
