TELFAIR COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - A man accused of killing an elderly Georgia couple looking to buy a classic car through Craigslist in January 2015 pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.

Ronnie Adrian Towns is accused of murdering Elrey and June Runion.

The couple drove from Marietta to McRae seeking to purchase a 1966 Ford Mustang that they found on Craigslist. They were not heard from again.

A few days after they went missing, authorities found the bodies of Elrey and June Runion. They had both been shot in the head. Their car was found submerged in a nearby lake.

Soon after, Towns turned himself in on charges of giving false statements during an interview conducted shortly after the couple went missing and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception. He was later charged with murder and armed robbery.

Months later, prosecutors announced that they were seeking the death penalty against Towns.

He is facing eight counts of malice murder, felony murder and armed robbery.
