Deputies: Ax used in morning robbery of Macon convenient store

MACON, Ga -- A suspect is being sought after an early morning armed robbery at a convenient store in North Macon.

According to a release from the Bibb Sheriff’s Office, a call came in just before 4 a.m. Friday at the Reliance Food Mart on Napier Avenue.

It was reported that two suspects entered the store, demanding that the two employees and two customers lay down on the floor. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and the other had an ax.

The suspect with the ax busted into multiple gambling machines and took the money from inside of the machines.

After taking an unknown amount of money, they fled on foot in an unknown direction.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to witnesses, the two suspects were described as black males wearing dark clothes, their faces were covered and they had on white gloves.

No other description is available.

The incident is currently under investigation.
