Coroner: Man killed in west Macon house fire

MACON, Ga. -- Coroner Leon Jones said a man died in a house fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Clay Williams with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said 62-year-old Charlie Hollingsworth was killed in a fire at 1283 Duncan Ave.

"Upon arrival they realized there was still one person left in the residence," Williams said. "The other four people were removed from the residence."

Hollingsworth's body was found in the front bedroom.

Fire crews responded to the scene around just after 5 p.m.

The house was completely destroyed by the fire.

Williams said its cause is still under investigation.

Duncan Ave. between Coleman Ave. and E. Napier Ave. will be closed off during the investigation. People should avoid the area until it is reopened.
