UPDATE: Bibb County Deputies investigate homicide, victim identified

Deputies said they found a woman dead in the road/WGXA

MACON, Ga.- Bibb County Deputies are investigating a homicide that occurred Monday night in Macon, according to coroner Leon Jones.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Winship and Madden Avenue.

Investigators said a driver found a woman in the road who appeared to be shot to death. The driver then called for help.

Tuesday morning, authorities identified the victim as Ida Mae Ford, 49, of Macon, who lived at a home in the 2300 block of Winship Street.

The incident is still under investigation.

WGXA talked with Ford's daughter Tracianna Taylor, who said she was in shock.

"I didn't believe it because I just saw my mom yesterday," Taylor said.

"I really want to know what happened," she added. "So anybody who can come forward with information, just please contact the sheriff's office and let them know. I thank you in advance and may God bless you."
