BIBB COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - Graduation day ended with a hiccup for many Bibb County students this year.
As students crossed the stage, celebrating their graduation, a first look at many diplomas revealed a printing error.
For Central High School students, their graduation date is marked as May 25, 1931.
District officials confirmed a mistake was made that resulted in an inaccurate date on some graduation diplomas. They issued the following statement to WGXA News:
We understand the impact this error has on our graduates and we want to assure you that we are taking immediate action to rectify the situation. We want to emphasize that this error does not in any way diminish students’ accomplishments and achievements as graduates. Their hard work and commitment deserve to be properly recognized! We are working closely with the printing company to expedite the reprinting process and ensure that every affected student receives the accurate and corrected diplomas they deserve.
The district adds graduates will be notified of the date and time to pick up their corrected diplomas, adding, "We understand the urgency and are committed to making this right for each and every student."
