MACON, Ga. -- National No One Eats Alone Day wrapped up Friday at Bibb County schools.
It's a positive prevention initiative designed to promote inclusion in middle schools.
Schools throughout Georgia, including Derenne Middle School, St. Peter Claver Catholic School, Southeast Bulloch Middle School, Langston Chapel Middle School and Mary McLeod Bethune Middle School, all took part throughout the week.
Peach State Health Plan hosted assemblies for the event, created by the non-profit Beyond Differences.
Students learned about social isolation and the negative impact it can have on a student’s health and academic performance, officials say. They were then encouraged to demonstrate inclusion by interacting and sitting with students at lunch who they don’t know.
