BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. -- Butts County deputies have reported a body found Friday morning at the entrance of the Jackson Glen Subdivision off of Hwy. 36 in Jackson.

Deputies said they're investigating a homicide that "appears to have been brought in off of Interstate 75."

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is working with Butts County investigators and is still processing the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

Nelly Miles with the GBI said the male victim "was found with multiple gunshot wounds after a 911 call" that came in around 6:13 a.m.

Captain Matt Garrison with the sheriff's office said a passerby found the body and made the call to 911.

Garrison said Butts County deputies immediately asked the GBI to help with the investigation. He added that investigators "assume" the body was discovered within six hours of being shot.

The case doesn't appear to have any connections with the Jackson Glen Subdivision, deputies said.

Anyone with information that could help Butts County investigators and the GBI with this case are asked to call 770-775-8216.
