Breaking the cycle: community leaders discuss ending violence among Macon's young people

Parents, activists and community leaders had a very candid, honest discussion at the Buck Melton Center about violence and the youth of Macon/Evan Watson (WGXA)

MACON, Ga. -- Activists, parents and community leaders held a meeting on Tuesday called "If this was Your Child" to talk about solutions to the recent violence among Macon's young people.

They met at the Buck Melton Community Center and found that what the young people of today really want are job opportunities.

This community group brainstormed for ways to break the cycle and help those convicted of crimes get jobs.

The group plans to present its solutions to the county commission in the future and discussed mentoring projects and partnering with local colleges.
