3 killed in 3 separate Halloween shootings ups Macon's homicide total to 25 for the year
MACON, Ga. -- The Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple shootings resulting in two deaths Tuesday night, making that three homicides for the day.
Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley confirmed that just afer 9 p.m., two men were shot at a party on Dennis. St. One of those men died on scene.
Another man was shot in Burton Ave. and later died at the hospital from his wounds.
Their deaths mark Macon's 24th and 25th homicides on the year and third on Tuesday alone.
Miley said 38-year-old Jackie Dewayne Rouse was found shot dead inside a home at 1013 Dennis St. A 31-year-old man was also shot at the party. He was found farther down the same road and taken to a local hospital. He's currently in stable condition.
The sheriff's office states that an altercation took place before the shooting.
According to Cpl. Clay Williams, 38 year old Stewart Leslie Gordon Jr. was also shot at 1476 Burton Ave. in west Macon Tuesday night and taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Burton Ave. is closed at Winfield Way as crews investigate.
Early Wednesday in a press release, The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says Gordon Jr. got into a fight with 21year old Jace Tyler Jenkins. During the argument Jenkins shot Gordon once in the chest.
Deputies say Jenkins is now charged with murder. He was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, the body of Jontavious Towns, who preferred to be called Candace, was found shot in a driveway on Rosecrest Ave.
A dead body that was shot was found on Rosecrest Ave. earlier in the afternoon.
Additionally, a fifth person was shot Tuesday outside of a Rutland Place apartment. He was also taken to a local hospital.
