Macon Crimestoppers, Bibb Co. deputies urge tips after 3 overnight shootings

MACON, Ga. -- After three reported shootings Monday night, Macon Regional Crimestoppers and Bibb County deputies are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said there haven't been any arrests made yet in connection to the shootings, but stressed the need for tips that could lead to potential suspects or persons of interest.

“I’ll say if anybody has any information involving any of the cases that they know that we’re working, feel free to give us a call 478-751-7500 or they can call Crimestoppers and they will remain anonymous. There's reward money out," said Captain Shermaine Jones.

One shooting happened in north Macon in the 300 block of Rogers Avenue off Ingleside Avenue just before 10 p.m. A 31-year-old man was reportedly walking home when he was shot twice - once in the arm and again in the hip.

A second shooting just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Mosley Ave. and Cedar Ave. left a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound in his thigh. Deputies said the man was walking to a Mosley Ave. home when an unknown suspect shot him.

Deputies also responded to a third shooting that happened just after 11 p.m. in the 5800 block of Leon Dr. W., off Bloomfield Dr. A 30-year-old man was reportedly working on a car outside when a group of unknown subjects fired in his direction, striking the victim in the foot.

"I think everybody should always be aware of their surroundings, understand where they are, who's around them, what’s going on. At this point, I don’t think that we have some random person going around targeting citizens of Macon-Bibb County," Jones said.

Crimestoppers said tips will always remain anonymous. Their number is 1-877-68CRIME.
