Man says he accidentally shot self near Macon's Henderson Stadium

One person was shot in the parking lot of Brad Henderson Memorial Stadium in Macon Monday morning, deputies say/Ronshad Berry (WGXA)

MACON, Ga. -- A man told deputies he accidentally shot himself near Brad Henderson Memorial Stadium in Macon Monday morning.

It happened just after 11:30 a.m. The stadium is located on Anthony Road.

Bibb deputies say an 18-year-old man was shot in the arm while walking down a pathway between Henderson stadium and Central Church of Christ. He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told deputies they heard the shot and noticed the man exit the pathway screaming he had been shot. Witnesses then called 911 for help.

The man told deputies he didn't know who shot him. After further investigation, he admitted to investigators that he accidentally shot himself.

Authorities initially detained a person of interest for questioning, but no one has been arrested at this time.
