SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Deputies say one of the two men found stabbed in Spalding County Monday night is a Spalding Co. school board member.
Ricardo Syntel Brown, 33, was found stabbed in the front yard of a home around 9 p.m. Another man -- 24-year-old Devontae Perkins -- was also found stabbed a short distance from the home.
The GBI is investigating the case.
Brown was elected to the Griffin-Spalding County School Board District 1 seat. He is also a teacher at Fulton Leadership Academy.
A statement from the Griffin-Spalding County School System reads:
"Our hearts and minds are with Mr. R. Syntel Brown and his family at this time. We wish him a speedy recovery."
SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Spalding County investigators have called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) after finding two men with multiple stab wounds at a home on High Falls Rd.
The sheriff's office said deputies found 33-year-old Syntel Brown in the home's front yard just after 9 a.m. Monday.
A neighbor reportedly started helping until emergency technicians got to the scene, and Brown was taken to Atlanta Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
Deputies also found 24-year-old Devontae Perkins near the house and said he also sustained "multiple stab wounds and cuts." Emergency officials took Perkins to Spalding Regional Hospital.
"After being briefed by my investigators as to the details of the incident and those involved, I made the determination to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and ask for their assistance. At this point the investigation has been turned over to them. No other details will be released at this time as the investigation into the incident and fact gathering is ongoing," sheriff Darrell Dix said.
