Deputies: Man steals beer from Macon gas station, hits clerk with car

MACON, Ga. -- A Macon gas station clerk says a man stole beer from his gas station and then hit him with his car when he tried to stop him.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office report, on Tuesday, deputies were called to the Shell Gas Station on Hartley Bridge Rd. for theft of beer.

The store clerk told deputies that a man -- about 25-30 years old, 5'4'' and 180 lbs -- grabbed two 12 packs of Corona beer and ran towards the door. He said the man then got into a car parked in front of store.

According the report, the clerk says he approached the front door of car -- which was open -- and tried to grab the beer. The man then put the car into reverse -- knocking the clerk to the ground and hitting his left leg with the car.

The man then drove off.

The clerk told deputies he was not seriously injured.
