UPDATE: 2 women dead after head-on wreck in Toombs County

    TOOMBS CO., Ga. -- Deputies say two women -- ages 29 and 55 -- were killed in a head-on wreck in Toombs Co. Friday morning.

    Toombs County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims as 29-year-old Shaquanna Renee Boynton, of Swainsboro, and 55-year-old Lonnie Gary Vasser of Vidalia.

    Deputies say the wreck happened around 5:42 a.m. on Highway 297 at Mosley Road.

    When officers arrived on the scene, they found an SUV in the ditch with extensive damage and another SUV sitting in the road with extensive damage.

    Deputies determined it as a head-on crash. Both woman -- the drivers -- were found dead on scene.

    No one else was involved in the wreck.

    An investigation is ongoing.



    TOOMBS CO., Ga. -- Deputies say multiple people are dead after an accident in Toombs County Friday morning.

    According to the Toombs County Sheriff's Office, the accident took place at the Hwy 297 area of Mosley Rd.

    The area is temporarily closed as officials clear the scene.

    Deputies say no names will be given at this time.

    Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and GSP are investigating.
