MONROE CO., Ga. -- Deputies are seeking information on a Monroe County beauty shop that has been vandalized.

Shirley's Beauty Shop is located on Bowdoin Rd. in Juliette. Ciara Bostick says it's the second time in the last two weeks this message has appeared outside her grandmother's shop.

"We don't really understand why they're doing it to us. Why they can't just make poster boards like normal people and do protests like that, I don't really understand why they have to vandalize ours," said Bostick.

Pictures show large writing in blue paint all across the side of the building. The message appears to criticize Georgia Power, saying it's causing cancer for people living in the area.

If you have any information related to this vandalism, you're asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 478-994-7010.

Bostick said her grandmother has been here for almost 20 years and added that she doesn't understand why the vandal is hitting this store.

"She would stay late, like nine o'clock at night just to cut people's hair. Take them home if they didn't have rides, come pick them up. She's just such a giving person so I really don't understand why this is happening to her," Bostick said.

Bostick said the vandalism's claims about Georgia Power are ridiculous.

"If you look at the message, you can tell it's someone, either they weren't in their right mind or they didn't know what they were talking about because it's jibberish," she said.

The vandal also posted a sign made out of cardboard in front of the Juliette Post Office. It's about 40 yards away from the beauty shop. Both contain nearly the same message.

"It's a quiet town and if you do anything in this town, someone is going to know, someone is going to see you, someone is going to know. Even if you don't think they saw you, they're going to, someone's going to find out," Bostick said.
