MACON, Ga. -- Bibb County deputies said a man stole at least $1,500 in jewelry chains from a north Macon Walmart.
A sheriff's incident report said the theft happened around 4 a.m. on February 16. Deputies said surveillance footage showed a male suspect getting out of a sedan and walking into the Walmart around 3:51 a.m.
The suspect reportedly held his fist over his face, got a shopping cart and went to the jewelry section. The report said surveillance footage showed him looking at the jewelry displays and then getting down to crawl towards the area where the chains were kept.
The suspect reportedly used a tool to pry open the chain display, dumped some chains on the floor and then put the jewelry in his pockets before he crawled back to the shopping cart and walked away.
The report said the suspect left the Walmart just after 4 a.m. and possibly got back into the sedan that dropped him off.
