Early morning fire kills Fort Valley man

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — An early morning house fire claimed the life of a Fort Valley man.

According to a media release from the Fort Valley Department of Public Safety, the fire started just after 2 a.m. on Monday at 601 Courtland Ave.

66-year-old Ernest Fredrick was found inside the home and was transported to the Peach County Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The exact cause of death will be released pending an autopsy.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the State Fire Marshal's office is assisting in the case.
