FRIDAY EVENING UPDATE: Storms expected Saturday, Monday
MACON, Ga. - Two weather systems are expected to bring storms to Middle Georgia Saturday and Monday.
SATURDAY: Showers and storms are expected, especially in the morning through lunchtime hours. Our latest data shows rain chances fading later in the day. Severe weather is not expected. Any storm could produce gusty winds, torrential rain and lightning.
MONDAY: A stronger system will impact Middle Georgia Monday. The energy available for storm development will be greater Monday. Other elements in the environment suggest a better chance for damaging wind and tornado development, especially south of Macon, but all of Middle Georgia will be at risk for storms.
As a reminder, we are firmly in severe weather season. According to the National Weather Service, 18% of Georgia's tornadoes develop in March.
