Commissioners discuss plans to reduce pedestrian injuries
With recent six pedestrian fatalities so far this year, the pedestrian fatality review board is deciding to do something about it.
The board updated the Macon Bibb County Commissioners on their strategic plan to reduce the pedestrian injuries.
They're going to look into specific areas with infrastructure issues that might need road and light improvement.
The board says there are many organizations that are willing to assist with injury prevention.
"A series of plans and recommendations have come through the county as well as outside organizations around this issue. Traffic safety has been recognized, but not necessarily prioritized and implemented," said Christopher Tsavatewa.
The board will go over plans and recommendations from organizations and agencies.
They will also review the incidents that have happened over the past few years.
On March 1st 2016, the board will finalize the report to the public safety committee
