GBI investigating after body found in wooded area of Twiggs County

TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. -- A body has been found in some woods near a highway in Twiggs County.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the body was discovered off of Highway 96 near the Twiggs and Houston County line.

Sheriff Darren Mitchum asked the GBI to assist in the investigation Sunday evening.

It's a joint investigation that remains active and ongoing.
