GBI: Georgia couple charged in 77-year-old man's murder

SUMTER COUNTY, Ga. -- Two have been arrested in the July murder of a Sumter County man.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says George "Ritch" McCutchen was killed at a home in the 200 block of Edgewood Dr. in Americus on July 28.

Sumter County deputies asked the GBI to assist in the investigation into the shooting that left McCutchen dead.

The GBI says the investigation has led to the arrests of Vicki Jones Brewer and William "Bill" Brewer on Friday.

Vicki Brewer is charged with making false statements and writing. William Brewer is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. Both were booked into the Sumter County Jail.

Agencies that helped in the investigation include the Americus Police Department, the Georgia State Patrol, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorneys Office, and the GBI Region 3 Office.
