GBI: Suspect arrested in connection with Monroe County officer-involved shooting

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. -- A 27-year-old man is in custody in connection with an officer-involved shooting that happened in Forsyth.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, on May 27, agents arrested Deon Damon Bowden for his role in the May 16 incident.

On the day of the officer-involved shooting, Monroe County dispatch received an emergency call around 9 p.m. regarding a domestic incident on Clearview Ave. in Forsyth.

According to the GBI, Bowden started firing at deputies who responded, eventually crashing a car into multiple vehicles, including two Monroe County patrol cars.

Deputies shot Bowden multiple times when he pulled out a gun. No officers were injured and Bowden had been transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Bowden has been charged withaggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated cruelty to animals, battery, and battery family violence. He's being held at the Monroe County Jail.
