Georgia College bus drivers test skills for upcoming school year with 'Bus Roadeo'
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Georgia College bus drivers tested their driving skills in an annual "Bus Roadeo" on Thursday in Milledgeville.
About 16 drivers competed in four teams four to maneuver around cones. The teams were dived by each person's experience and skill, and got a point for every cone that was hit.
The team with the least number of points by the end of the competition won prizes like Georgia College water bottles, towels and pens. All of the drivers are also getting treated to lunch.
This year another challenge was added, since drivers didn't have unlimited time to drive the course. They were only given five minutes, which makes the test more competitive for the teams.
The "Bus Roadeo" ended a summer full of refresher training for the drivers. Everyone also had to park 34-foot, 33-passenger shuttle buses, back up into tight spaces, steer around tight s-curves and more.
