CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (ABC 33/40) — Alabama deputies say there are no signs of survivors following a Georgia police helicopter crash in Verbena, Alabama Friday afternoon.

The helicopter -- from Columbus, Georgia -- crashed in the area of Cargile Creek on Lake Mitchell, according to our sister station ABC33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama. ALEA is assisting in the investigation.

The FAA says the helicopter, a Bell OH-58, crashed around 1:15 p.m.

Authorities ask for the public to stay away from County Roads 542 and 553 at this time.
