MACON, Ga. -- The Houston County School System held its annual Social Studies Fair on Friday at the Houston Health Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students in grades five through 12 had the opportunity to enter the fair with projects that showed research and conclusions about the study of people and their relationships to their physical and social environment.

The research projects fit one of six fields of study: anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, sociology or psychology.

"It just helps you get to know exactly what is humanity. What do we do, the things we do," said Houston County student Stephanie Doblack-Mellum.

The projects were judged and scored for entry in the Southwest Georgia Regional Social Studies Fair, to be held at the National Infantry Museum in Columbus on March 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sixteen projects will be chosen at the regional fair to be entered into the State Social Studies Fair on April 14 at Clayton State University in Morrow.
